Are the lessons curriculum aligned? Yes. Maths Hero is designed against the Australian Curriculum (v9) and provides full coverage for every state and territory. When jurisdictions add or sequence content differently, we include the specific lessons needed to ensure teachers meet their curriculum obligations.
Are the lessons downloadable? No. All lessons are online-based and accessible through any modern browser.
Are the lessons editable? Yes. Lessons can be edited to increase or decrease the level of challenge.
How are mixed-ability and composite classes supported? Differentiation, worked examples, and scaffolds are included. Teachers can also choose lessons from multiple years to create custom pathways that suit the unique needs of their classes.
How much preparation is required? Lessons are teacher-ready. Prep is mainly scanning the lesson and thinking about how content will be delivered to support the needs of students.
Is there a student book? No. We prioritise teacher-led instruction, checking for understanding and point-of-error feedback. Extended “we do” with mini-whiteboards and point-of-error feedback mean you can confirm student understanding before releasing students to independent work. Independent practice is included but is short and purposeful (e.g., small printout or exercise book work).
How do teachers check for understanding and track progress? Frequent whole-class responses are essential. We highly recommend using Hollingsworth and Ybarra’s engagement norms and TAPPLE strategies to teach and check for understanding. Things like mini whiteboards, choral responses, and non-volunteer sampling are critically important. Maths Hero is also introducing an innovative assessment builder linked to curriculum codes so teachers can design their own assessments covering exactly what they need.
Can it be used alongside others resources? Yes. You can keep your hands-on activities, daily reviews, rich tasks, games and inquiry projects. Maths Hero provides the explicit instruction lesson components that meet curriculum standards.
What does a typical lesson look like? Following the most compelling evidence on lesson design all Maths Hero lessons include a clear lesson objective, success criteria, prior knowledge, conceptual understanding, procedural steps, clear modelling, extended guided practice with whole-class responses, then a short independent task once understanding is confirmed through constant checks for understanding (formative assessment).
What are the tech and materials requirements? Any modern browser. No downloads. Mini-whiteboards or a reliable equivalent are essential. Occasional short printouts and/or exercise book work.
How does the 4-week trial work and what happens after? Full access during the trial. At the end, choose a school licence for the coming year or access closes. We help leaders review usage and teacher feedback before you decide.
